Safety and the environment rank among the most important issues in the feed, seed, grain and farm supply industries today.  WASA employs a full-time, professional safety and loss control director to service the safety and environmental requirements of its members.  Services include:

Safety Training Classes and Seminars—Programs are held in locations throughout the state on an ongoing basis.  Topics include:

On-site Safety Training—WASA’s safety and loss control director conducts safety training for members at their facilities.

Annual WASA Safety Day—A full-day safety event is held each year.  The event features safety presentations, exhibits and demonstrations, and a keynote speaker.

Safety Audits and Inspections—WASA’s safety and loss control director inspects members facilities for potential OSHA violations and provides reports on what action needs to be taken to comply with OSHA regulations and avoid citations.  Inspections can be structured to replicate surprise OSHA visits and are a great way to educate facility managers on the inspection process.

OSHA Citation Service—WASA’s safety and loss control director assists cited members at OSHA informal and administrative hearings.  WASA staff is very successful at getting fines and penalties reduced and even withdrawn, thanks to their knowledge and expertise.

Consulting Services—WASA’s safety and loss control director performs research and provides information, interpretation, and consultation on OSHA, DOT and DNR/EPA regulations for members.  Assistance in the development and implementation of company safety programs and advice on all aspects of facility safety is also available.

Safety Training Aids—WASA has a comprehensive catalogue of safety videotapes, handbooks, and training manuals on topics such as forklift operation, grain dust, and avoiding OSHA violations.  Members can borrow from the association’s library.

Liaison with State and Federal Regulatory Agencies—WASA staff maintains close relationships with officials at state and federal regulatory agencies and ensure that your voice is heard when new regulations are considered.

Program registration fees will be charged.  Nominal registration fees are charged for education programs to cover the cost of course materials, meeting space, and refreshments.
