Among the standout achievements, Team USA's Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team won the gold medal, while the Women’s team secured the silver.

WASA boasts one of the largest adaptive sports programs in the country, with wheelchair basketball being one of its flagship programs. This year, 11 of WASA's men’s and women’s wheelchair basketball players and coaches represented Team USA in Paris, demonstrating exceptional skill and dedication.

Team USA Men’s Wheelchair Basketball: • Gold Medal Winners • Wisconsin Natives: Nate Hinze (Cedar Grove), John Boie (Milton), Talen Jourdan (Deerfield), Jake Williams (Milwaukee) - Team USA Women’s Wheelchair Basketball: • Silver Medal Winners • Wisconsin Natives: Becca Murray (Germantown), Emily Oberst (Brookfield) In addition to these Wisconsin-born athletes, WASA is home to several other remarkable individuals who have made Wisconsin their home and continue to contribute to the state's strong adaptive sports community. These include Jeromie Meyer, AJ Fitzpatrick, and Coach Christina Schwab. Furthermore, WASA's programs also attract talent from beyond state borders, including Natalie Schneider from Crete, NE, and Paul Schulte from FL.

Melissa Oberst, a member of WASA's Board of Directors, expressed her pride and excitement, stating, "We are incredibly proud of our athletes and can’t wait to see them return from Paris with their medals for a big congratulatory event. Their athleticism, hard work, and the sacrifices they make to train to compete at the highest level are extraordinary. We are beyond excited and proud!" WASA continues to be a beacon of excellence in adaptive sports, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for athletes of all backgrounds. The association looks forward to celebrating the incredible achievements of its athletes and building on this success for future competitions.
