BIG - Move More, Feel Better

As the days grow longer and the warmth of summer arrives, June is the perfect time to embrace new opportunities for connection, growth, and fun. At WASA, we're celebrating the season by encouraging everyone to stay active, explore new experiences, and strengthen the relationships that make our community special. Whether it's enjoying outdoor activities, participating in programs, or simply spending time together, summer offers countless ways to learn, thrive, and create lasting memories.

The American Psychological Association reports that spending at least 120 minutes outdoors each week is linked to greater well-being and life satisfaction. As we focus on movement this month at WASA, consider taking your activity outside. Whether you're walking, wheeling, playing adaptive sports, or exploring a local park, outdoor movement is a simple way to support both physical and emotional wellness. Every step, roll, and adventure counts! Click below to explore accessible trails in your area.

People with spinal cord injuries may have a harder time regulating body temperature, making it important to take extra precautions when spending time outdoors. Staying hydrated, wearing weather-appropriate clothing, and taking regular cooling breaks can help you safely enjoy outdoor recreation and physical activity.

HIGHLIGHT - Peer Support

WASA recently partnered with Independence First for a fun and engaging Bowling Night! The evening brought people together to meet new faces, try something new, and enjoy a strong sense of community.

Members from Independence First shared their appreciation for the opportunity to connect with WASA participants and spend time on the lanes. One participant reflected, “I appreciated everyone who came out. I had fun and I enjoyed your company.”
