ADDITIONAL NOTES
Pack 2 extra days of essentials just in case of delayed/cancelled flights, or daily routine falters/not feeling well starts
Traveling with a smartdrive power assist? Take it in the cabin with you! Print or show following document if they question the battery being stored in cabin. https://permobilwebcdn.azureedge.net/.../smartdrive... https://livingspinal.com/.../SmartDrive%20Airline...
When you’re boarding the plane, do the “Upside Down Test” If your chair were to be flipped upside down, what would fall off or have loose attachments?
side guards, cushions, tubular armrests that do not lock, cup holder/bags/accessories
Take these items with you and ask to be stored in the overhead bin. Most large planes have a Folding Wheelchair Compartment that these items can be stored in, including your rear wheels which may save your spokes from being damaged. Ideally, sit on your cushion to maintain skin integrity during long flights.
Highly recommend taking a picture of your day chair, powerchair, sports chair right before it’s handed over to staff. This can be helpful if - unfortunately - a repair claim is needed due to poor handling
